Or am I the only old fart here?

I just caught myself calling a CD an "album" when I was answering a question about Cheap Trick.

Don't worry, you have other members of your club on here, believe me. I'm trying to break myself of that "album" habit too. Know another one that I'm trying to stop saying? I'll say "I'm going to TAPE that show tonight" instead of saying "I'm going to RECORD that show tonight". We don't use tapes anymore. We record it through our cable company or we Tivo it. .... Ah, trying to keep up with modern times is hard work, isn't it?

I always do it, and I'm way after the time of albums. (born in '89). I call actual albums "vinyls" and but I refer to all collections of music put out by a band at a certain date in a certain order "albums." I only refer to the actual shiny disk as a CD.

I call CD's albums all the time. It is an album of songs. The thing I try to catch myself from not saying is "record".

I still call albums albums. CD is just the disc. Albums don't only refer to records.

I do. I started to catalog my CD's to mp3's and all of a sudden my CD's weren't CD's anymore. An album is defined as: "A collection of musical compositions, pictures, or literary selections." It doesn't matter if they are on vinyl, tape, CD, or your hard drive.

I think they still are albums by definition.

I still call CD's albums occasionally. Usually when mentioning someone has a "new album out".

By the way, how many people refer to it as alblum? (check the spelling) I know more than one.

Im my mind they still are,and always will be , albums. I'm still mourning the death of vinyl.I feel sorry for todays youth who will never experience that moment of crackling static as you pull an album from its inner sleeve. Bliss !
