I'd be interested in hearing about your recovery experiences. I am getting my ovaries removed at the same time.

I had one in October of last year. I had my uterus, both ovaries and cervix removed. I had to spend about 5 days in the hospital. A little longer than planned, but I had some problems with the epideral and apparently they have to wait until you pass gas...which I guess took me a little while. :0/

Although less invasive, you do need to take it easy...it's not a pain free proposition.

I visited (and still visit) this site often http://www.hystersisters.com/

I had an LAVH/BSO and removal of cervix in 1998. I stayed 2 days in the hospital for complications BUT by the end of the first week I was walking a 1/2 mile in the evenings. I've had laparotomies and even laparoscopies that took me longer to heal from. Good luck to you and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I had this done in '99. It went pretty smoothly with no regrets or problems. I was in the hospital for 3 days. Was off work for 3 weeks. I had a small inscision over each ovary and 1 under my bellybutton, none required stitches. I was pretty sore for a few days but was off all pain meds except for Tylenol by day 2.

I had full hysterectomy but by surgical way as I had c-section births before. Hope yours is easier, my recovery was about 4 weeks.
