First because in itself it is a beautiful city...
The beach is lovely with the blue mediterranean at its feet
The mimosa blooming in the hills in early spring...The XIXth century buildings...The beautiful hotels along La Croisette... The croissants with coffee in the morning, boullabaise for lunch
The market with all the wonderful produce and the "arrière-pays" or the back country. The hills behind Cannes are wonderful to visit... As is Nice (pronounced niece) the next city along the coast.
One cannot visit Cannes and not fall in love with it!

The French Riviera is a mythical place! It has been for 50 yrs!
It was the place to be for artists back then and still now with the Festival de Cannes.

If you would visit it you would know, but if you will, make sure you see Monaco as well, and all the French Riviera as well

I don't know. I didn't care for it much. Monte Carlo is much nicer.
