WNBA hasn't been around all that long...give it time. I think it has to do, in part, with promoting. The NBA is promoted non-stop, the WNBA...not so much.

One reason is the fact that it has been around a lot longer. Another reason is the way NBA is packaged. Turn on sportscenter and the NBA highlights you see are usually dunks. WNBA is a more fundamental game and is, thus played at a slower pace. Also, we are still not at the place where women athletes are as accepted as male athletes. The last reason is probably the biggest, I know a lot of guys who don't think it is manly to watch women's sports unless they are watching to check out the girls.

Well sure they are but what it is

-the ball is smaller
-the game is shorter
-the layups look funny
-there are really no trick plays
-the NBA has more history to it
-the NBA is more marketable
-no halfcourt shots
-no dunks
-the play isint as fast as the nba
-a crossover is very rare
-an ankle breaking crossover is very rare
-way more NBA teams so your have more choices for what your favorite team is
-the style of play is very limited
for example you can expect a suns game to be fast paced and have a lot of fast break points
or expect a cavaliers game to have insane dunks and alley oops
but in a wnba game you know whats going to happen on the other end of a fast break play, either a layup or a steal.
-and there are no blocks that send the ball into the stands.
the main point is a WNBA game is just not really exciting because alley oops that end in layups are just boring

No, girls are not just as good. How many women dunK? And I don't mean that Lisa Leslie half touching the rim "dunk." There aren't any alley oops, no windmills, no 360s. It's not exciting. The women aren't as athletic as men, they are clumsy and always dropping passes and messing up dribbles. The games are slow and boring (even though the NBA is getting more and more like this with rule changes and a focus in iso sets). The bottom line people want to watch the best basketball, which is played by men.

Because the "big money" and sponsors are behind the NBA more... also, there are more people watching the NBA than the WNBA. So, it is not promoted as much...

No, men are better, its a fact - testosterone. The NBA has more high flying dunks and amazing shots and blocks. The WNBA is so damn boring to watch.

Because it's just not in our genes to care about it. Men want to be good at something, so girls can look up to them. And girls want a man they can look up to. It's just natural. Why would a guy want to see a girl play basketball? even if she's a girl, a guy sees her as competition, and guys never like competition whether is a guy or a girl. Girls won't find it interesting either, girls like seeing a bunch of guys competing, not girls.
There are just no subconcious reproductive reasons for men or women to care about a bunch of women compete.

The girls are not as good. Last I knew there were only two girls that could dunk and scoring was a lot lower than the men. Now what is so exciting about that?
