I began dialating at 29 weeks, it is my third pregnancy. Moved from 0-2 cm, within a week. I have stopped dialating and want to get myself moving again. I know about nipple stimulation and sex (worked with my other 2 pregnancies), but it is not working this time. I am ready to have this baby, now that I have made it to term, and I am beginning to get frustrated. Any ideas?

You can try evening primerose oil. It comes in caplets. I took it orally 3x a day until 36 weeks and then the last few weeks took also 1x a day vaginally. You insert similar to yeast treatment but not too high, usually before bed.

Sometimes blue and black cohosh will work a few drops of tincture in water every few hours. If you know an herbalist or holistic doctor or midwife, they can guide you. Or you can check Aviva Jill Romm's book the Natural Pregnancy.

You can also try Red Raspberry Leaf Tea (you have to buy at a health food store to get the real thing) The grocery store kind is only a raspberry flavoring.

Also you can try accupuncture, if your up to it.

I feel your pain. I just had a baby on the 23rd... man o man... I was past due by ten days. I tried everything ( well almost ) I did sex, walking, nipple stimulation... nothing worked for me! I was told castor oil too, but that made me very leary. I have heard good and bad from that... so I didnt want to risk it. Not at all. Have you got your membranes stripped yet? I had it done with my first one and my water started leaking ( took two days ) then this time around I got it done three times. The first two did start contractions for that day then stopped. But with most they continue.. I would try that if you havent yet. When I did it the third time I think about two hours of mild contractions I started getting them hard and every ten minutes. Just a suggestion! ;)

Hot baths and LONG walks have worked for many people. And a little more sex never hurt anyone. Im 29 weeks today and totally understand wanting the baby out, although not before being FULL term. Its just so freaking hot. Get to walking, sexing, bathing and exercising. Your baby will be here before you know it. :-)

I was dialated for the last 4 weeks of my second pregnancy and
had to be induced anyway. Sometimes they just don't come on
their own.

The only thing that worked with my two was walking. It doesn't matter how fast, it is the gravity part that does it. Don't do anything really strenuous, just simply find a quiet, cool place to walk and take off. Make sure you take someone with you though just in case you go into labor. Remember to pace yourself, because it won't take long for you to get tired.

I had the same problem and then told me to keep walking around. It ended up for me that my water broke and they ended up inducing me anyway. Good luck to you and congratulations to you and your new little one. I know the frustration you have. Nine months is long enough and you are ready. Hang in there it will be any day now.

Sex is for sure a great way, orgasim=contraction... but ejaculation is part of the key, it helps soften the cervix.

Otherwise: drink water, walking, take a shower, castor oil... (but I'd look up more info on this one)...go for a ride on a REALLY bumpy road... :)
Good luck!!!

Your doctor has a cream that they can place onto the cervix to promote thinning and dialating.. at least that is what they told me when I was in labor

DO NOT use castor oil, and you can't force the baby to come if it's not ready to. I tried to induce mine and she was not coming till she was ready. I was on pitocin, tired cervadel and even the obortion pill )the right way you are supposed to use it) and i was in the hospital for three days trying to have her and she came in her own time.

Real simple stare into a good light source and they will dialate right up... Don't stare into an arc or you will go blind
