I now live in NC, but have heard about the terrible flooding. I lived off rt 7 between Sidney and Unadilla and experienced the flooding twice while there. I hear this flood is much worse. I would appreciate any details about Sidney or any information anyone has on any of the Delaware County area. Thanks

I live, or should I say, lived in Sidney on River Street. Check out pictures on www.thedailystar.com, Flood 2006, picture gallary for some good pics. But River Street, Sidney is supposed to have water up to the middle of people's doors. I'm sure my bottom floor of my house is trashed but will not find out until they let us back into town (could be 5 days or more before they let us back) Most of the town of Unadilla is under water up to the rr tracks.

A section on both sides of 88 collapsed Wednesday right before the Unadilla exit from Sidney - two truck drivers died. Pretty grim situation up here. Hope this information helps!

I lived in Sidney for quite a number of years, and I am also in NC now.
In fact I lived on Bridge Street, which was the original main Street years and years ago. But in all the time I lived there, I don't ever remember it flooding this bad. The worst times I can remember were in the spring when the ice started breaking up on the Susquehanna. Bridge Street dead ended at the river, and our house was about 4 or 5 houses up from the river, on the corner. You could hear the ice breaking.
I still have family in Sherburne and have been getting emails of the flooding in Sidney all day. Its terrible....my prayers go out to all of them.
To those of you who still live in Sidney, drop me an email....yfox_2002@yahoo.com....I'd love to get in contact with some old friends.

I live in upstate NY. I have heard that in some areas they have declared a State of Emergency, roads are washed out, some briges are gone, rivers are well above cresting and there have been some casualties. It is a mess.
(UPDATED AT 4:40 PM; Chenango County driver killed) Two truck drivers were killed around 6:20 this morning in Sidney when a portion of Interstate 88 was washed away, and their trucks plunged into a 25-foot deep hole in the road. A third driver was killed, 31-year-old Robert Stockwell, after driving his car through a washed up section of road. The flooding threat continues in the Southern Tier, especially in Binghamton, where flood waters are going over flood-control walls.

I live in sidney. I was lucky to live up high enough to where the water didn't reach us. They are still not letting people right into town. We drove down rt7 between sidney and unadilla. Some places got hit worse. I have lived in this area for my life and never seen anything like this. Its things you see on tv that you think you'll never go through. My husband works for amphenol, and if you've seen any thing about it you know they got hit pretty bad, they are not expected to go back to work for a few weeks. my email is kbrown_331@hotmail.com I do have some pictures if you'd like to see. Also you can find alot at thedailystar.com.

We spoke to my SIL last night. She lives in Sidney. They were evacuated on Wed morning. At that time, the water was level with the bottom of the basement door. She is very worried. She has been hearing reports of the water being up to the second floor in some homes in her area. She doesn't know for sure. My BIL had to go by boat to Amphenol to get paychecks. Pics that I have seen show that only the top of the smoking pavilion roof at Amphenol could be seen. The area has been devastated. I am so thankful that everyone in the family is ok. Just hoping for the best when she is able to get back in her house.

My family lives in Sidney. Yesterday they evacuated from the river up to the railroad. At 1:00 am they evacuated up to Adams St. (The Sidney Federal Credit Union is located at the end of that St.) The East Sidney Dam crested over the top at appx 12:00 am. Many roads are washed out. This is a very bad situation and they are expecting more rain. I know a lot of power and phone lines are gone. My family is in a shelter at the middle school and my sister who lives in Franklin above the dam is stranded. I am frantic with worry and there is very little in the news. If anyone else has info please keep posting it.

I use to live in Sidney until about a year ago. I talked to my mom and dad and apparently all of downtown Sidney is flooded. My Aunt and Uncle that live down there had to go up to my parents house uptown because they have 3 feet of water in their living room. Amphenol has 4 feet of water in it. According to my dad, when they open the dam it will get even worse. They are turning all of the electricity off in the town today. Dont count on getting ahold of anybody after that.
