Walk in, first impressions are the best impressions, make sure you dress to impress and use a firm handshake, be tenacious. Or call first, be persistent and assertive. Or word of mouth or through friends, many people get their jobs through the people they know.

you always have to send a resume first. like someone else said, write a cover letter explaining briefly the situation and that you were terminated for refusing to do something that you know was unethical. also, give several other references from other previous jobs, church members, professors/teachers and other non-relatives.

Is there not an application online you could fill out somewhere? Most employers are ok with it if you are honest. Just explain the situation and let any potential employers know what your side of the story is.

You can write a cover letter being very brief explaining things but you still have to have a resume.

Do you have a good friend who works at your old company? Use them as your reference.

You always have the option of not having the company contacted.
