that happened to me once. I know how you feel.
First, make sure you don't have a pet snake in the house. hungry snakes and Hamsters don't mix. :-)
next, what I would do is leave out a few sunflower seeds around the house. if they eventually disappear then you know the hamster is still in the house.
Then look around in places like couch cushions and tight places that hamsters would like to hide in.
As a last resort what i would do is leave a trail of sunflower seeds up to your hamster's cage, eventually entering the cage.
Hopefully your hamster will follow the trail and go into the cage and be safe and sound.
The above may sound stupid but it does work.
hope this helps you find your hamster.
:-)

Put little bowls of food in each room, and when he gets hungry he will come out to eat, usually at night. Hopefully you will be able to grab him while he’s nibbling. A few years ago I thought I lost my hamster outside while moving him from one apartment to another. I was so upset. Then about 4 days later we were coming home from dinner and I had my leftovers in a little Styrofoam box on the floor and I hear a noise and look down and it’s my hamster chewing through the Styrofoam! He was in the car the whole time! We had looked and looked and couldn’t find him which is why we figured he got out. Your hamster will come out when he’s ready, just make sure you have food out.

When my hamsters would get out I would normally put her cage down on the floor with the door open...and put it by wherever I was sitting...like in front of the couch with the tv on low...and put some food out there...and eventually she might come around. Or put her food out on the floor and if you notice theres some gone at least you know shes still there and might be close to whereever you put her food. After shes back or even before...figure out how she got out and look at the cage and try to figure out other ways she can get out and fix those problems so it doesn't happen again. Oh and if you have cats...shes pry been eaten by the cats. It happened to one of my hamsters.

First, leave out a dish of water and/or some food.
Second, get a small bucket/box that it won't be able to get out of easily, make a ramp into the box and place a special treat (something it REALLY loves) in the bottom, and hope that it climbs in there.
Lastly, look in any quiet dark place - I had a hamster that LOVED to hide in the closet inside the shoes - till he figured out we would always look there. Then he moved on to other small dark hidey-holes.

This is how my sister catches my nephews hamster when it's on the lam. She takes her large dutch oven(large cooking pot), and places what ever it likes to eat in it, and creates a little ramp it can run up and then into the pot. But,s he doesn't provide him a means to get out, and he can't climb up the sides of the pot - hamster caught! She says he usually comes out at night, when things are quite. Hope this helps

Try putting food out and wait for it to come for it. Look in corners and closets or anywhere a hamster might like.

Look in all the couch cushions, under the counter, in the cabinets (we had a ferret who escaped and was able to get into the cabinets somehow, then he couldn't get out).

wait till its dark in the house, go in each room and flip on the lights to see if it is there, that's how I caught one of mine one time. They sleep during the day so it would be hard to find them.
