That all depends on what you consider scary, the best monsters are always human as it adds the factor of possibility to the movie for a crazed mind has often proved more vicious then fiction. The only movie that ever truly startled me was one that was not suppose to be a horror movie call "Jacob's Ladder" about a Vietnam vet who believed he had been subjected to chemical testing during the war, there is a large twist at the end and you may have to watch it several times to fully understand what is happening.

I really wanted to watch a scary movie and get scared, but I usually find them more laughable than anything.

The best "scary movie" just might be on the news these days. Yes, real life is scarier than any movie at times.

But the movie Candyman gave me a bit of a spook the first time I saw it, when I was a little bit younger.

I haven't found 1 movie to actually scare me . There would be those lame movies that try to scare people by having sudden loud bursts of noise or flashes of disturbing images but I think that the best scary movie has yet to be made.

Personally, I like psychological thrillers as opposed to straight ahead horror flicks. Within that genre, some of the best are:
- Repulsion
- Rosemary's Baby
- The Shining

More modern ones that I liked, although not in the same class as the preceding, include: The Ring (the Ring 2 was very, very bad), Skeleton Key.

Only two movies that I definetly will not watch again is Event Horizon and the Blair witch project. I know riht you thinking "the blair witch project that was so lame". To me it wasn't I saw it at the alamo draft house in Austin, Texas. The theater is literally pitch black so it made it seem more real like you were the camera. Any way on the way home...out in the boonies I could have swore that witch was in the back of my truck....Event Horizon..when the dude is in that tunnel and this chick appears with no eyes.....yeah that got me.

I don't watch very scary movies. I think Independence Day was the scariest to me.
