Because after a few million years all of the dinosaur flatulence eroded the ozone layer and killed them all off.

And you thought it was a giant meteor, didn't you.

Nope..........too many dino-farts.

There are indeed dinosaurs still walking/crawling/swimming the earth today! A few examples: the crocodile/alligator - unchanged for millions of years, still recognizable in its fossils. Same with the Great White shark, Kimodo Dragons and the cealocanth, a fish beleived to have become extinct 65 millions years ago until a live specimen was caught off the coast of Africa in the 1960s...

As for reason for the mass extinctions of large dinosaurs, there are only theories. The best Ive heard concern a massive collision between earth and an asteroid, causing mass extinction...this collision would throw dust into the atmosphere, blacking out the sun for months. Dinosaurs were most likely cold-blooded reptiles, meaning that they required the sun for body heat. Without it, they died off, as did their food supply. Only the small mamals that were warm blooded survived, along with some reptiles that are waterborne (such as the cealocanth and crocodile...)

The dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the cretaceous period. They are extinct because some scientists say that a asteroid or a meteor hit the earth with the strength of 10,000 nuclear warheads. When it hit the earth, it caused a major impact and created large amounts of dust that blocked out the sun. The sun was the main energy source for most living things and that killed off the herbivores. Then the food for the carnivores ran out and they became extinct as well. The only known creatures who survived are small mammals and cockroaches. At least thats what I have read.

Well, fossils of man and dinosaurs in the same layer have been found . From that we can conclude that dinosaurs lived with man. Also, if you look into some ancient Chinese recipes, they call for crushed up dinosaur bones. Why would they call for crushed up dinosaur bones if nobody had ever seen a dinosaur?

How did they die? Well, the word dinosaur was created in the 1800's... What were they called before? They were called dragons. And I am sure you have heard of the hundreds and thousands of stories that tell about knights killing dragons.

I am sure the dinosaurs got chased off, killed off, or eaten off... etc. If humans are in one place, they won't want a big dinosaur terrorizing them, so they will either chase the dino off, or kill it.

Seriously, there may be dinosaurs alive today... In Africa there is a swamp as big as the state of Arkansas.... The natives down there say there is a big dragon living in there that will eat people... they call it mokeleomebe. There could easily be dinosaurs living in that swamp. I don't know, but its a credible thought.

I have heard that they died off because huge meteor hit the earth causing a huge rising of dust. The dust blocked the sun so vegetation that was the dinosaurs diet couldn't grow and the dinosaurs died because they had no food. Very simplistic, but I think this is what scientists are saying now. Ask Ross on Friends. He is a paleontologist. Just kidding. Good luck on your search for info.

When I was young, I thought that dinosaurs would not fit on the ARK! But in recent years I've come to believe that they never walked on the face of the earth, but rather on some planet which was destroyed before the earth came into existence, and their remains were either buried within asteroids which crashed into the earth or in the materials which combined to create the earth.

There was one theory that size did matter during those times. Hence, the bigger dinosaurs find it more difficult to adapt to the conditions here on earth (hunting for miniature food, having a safe shelter, etc). Those who have adapted are the smaller ones who find it easier to hide from their predators and stuff. So, eventually, these humoungous creatures died and became extinct. Now, we still find some remaining dinosaur-like animals like the crocodiles, lizards, iguanas and other reptiles. They are the survivors!
