Your question is backwards. Stone Cold is WWEs version of Sandman. The Sandman was doing the beer thing, (and I was at a match live once where he lit a cigarette in the ring during a match and took a drag) while Austin was still rapping up his stint in WCW. Austin was in ECW for about a month and wrestled 3 matches, and only one was a one on one and he lost to Mikey Whipwreck. He did however, during this stint, hone his interview skills and use his bitterness towards WCW to develope what ended up being the Stone Cold character that we know now. All you have to do is remember Austins introduction to WWE as the Ringmaster...no beers or middle fingers there, were there?

Sandman's character was the big bad, beer drinking dude WAY before Steve Austin had become Stone Cold.
Sandman been doing it since the early 90's, when Steve Austin was known as "The Ringmaster" in the WWF.
And it is known that most wrestling critics have been accusing Stone Cold for ripping off Sandman's character.

No! Stone Cold Steve Austin is WWE's version of the Sandman. Sandman had it first and Austin took part of the gimmick after he left ECW and was in WWE for a while.

Sandman's style was like that well before Stone Cold hit the scene. Steve Austin used to be on ECW before he went to WWE, and he was more like his WCW character than anything we have grown accustomed to seeing from him in WWE.
