i like some movies like spirited away, kiki's delivery service, and my good neighbor totoro b/c they have a cute storyline..but the regular anime shows are just boring...so what's the big obsession?

Okay...? Sevenzark_7 has a weird answer...! And besides that is not true. Some people (Like myself!) are obsessed of anime/magna because it is more interesting then your normal cartoons, Tv shows, movies and books. The plot is usually crazy, romantic, hilarious, Sci-fi or even very angst's based. Some animes/magnas have several different plots all together (Like for example Inuyasha) and that's what interest people the most because it isn't a double-feature. And the drawings are usually very well drawn and more detailed then American drawings/cartoons. Also sometimes people are obsessed with anime/Magna because it gives them a chance to escape reality for a while or they just don't have a life...! (LOL) And it also might be that you haven't seen any good anime or read a good magna and that's why you thought anime and magnas or very boring. But maybe one day you'll come across an anime or magna that you'll become obsessive over.
I also like Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away (They are both very cute movies with a good plot!)

It's not so much the big eyes or the i read/watch anime so i'm cool thingy. It just that anime has the ability to really make your heart jump to your mourth at times. The plots are AMAZIING. Despite the comedy in some, anime can get very emotional. I guess thats why some love to watch anime . You can connect with the characters. Oh and i forgot to mention the music. It always comes in at the precise moment to bring the suspense/emotion to a greater level.

Well people have different opinions on things for starters.
Anime is more detailed in feelings and has alot to do with real life even if the fantasy cant acually happen.
I think people like the art to cause its amazing!
I love Anime and Manga alot. I have spent over $2,500 in Anime DVD's and Manga.
Thats my opinion on this question.

ok let's put it like this.. i love anime and manga.. the reson is, sometimes it's some sort of a refresher.. sometimes you wanted to watch anime because it makes your imagination work.. like how do that thing fly or how does he do that magic or something.. it also have different story lines.. even though you say anime are all the same you should try great authors like watase yuu. anime is a good way to use your imagination and art.

i love anime and manga! I like it cuz it's kinda like TV and books! It's just awesome! so exciting and cool!!!!!!! they r sooooooo not boring! they have good story lines! How much anime have u really watched or read? like Fruits Basket! I just love it! cept for da pairing but besides that it's super!!!!!!!!!!! Tsubasa rocks too!!! So Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic the second raid! So does CCS! Dn Angel too!!!!!!!!! watch any of these and say it's boring! â¥

i dont know about others, i like it because eventhough im considered as an adult now, i still believe in magic and fairytales and you can easily get that from anime and manga. And it is damn funny too. I dont like watching tv and then getting scared, weppy or headache just because thinking of the problems that not really exist.

Well personally I love Anime but I don't like some of the shows on Cartoon Network.
I miss Rurouni Kenshin(i think i spelled it wrong).
Maybe you would like Kaleido Star or maybe Pretear. They are pretty good.

I guess it is because they might think it's interisting even though you may not. Sometimes those manga comics are read differently than the books usually here in the US. Some people might think it's cool. It's all up to them!

They are so much different from regular cartoons with such a wide variety of emotions and situations, plus the artwork is flippin awesome.

Because it's a good way to meet other overweight people who wear black and dye their hair pink, green or blue and discuss why they're superior for watching cartoons in a language they can't wakarimasu.
