I have a degree in Latin but it's not getting me anywhere. (imagine that.) Would it be better to take two years and get my CPA license or take 4 years to get my law license?

Additional Details

I love numbers and I love finding loop holes. Tax laws have so many loop holes. It's amazing how you can do the same return 50 different ways and still stay within the perimeters of the law.

Law in general interests me in the same way. So many ways to get the same thing done.

Go for the CPA and then you have income while you go to law school. Or if you love being a CPA then you can just stay where your at.

It depends on what you feel would be more rewarding in the long run....you should be comfortable with your choice regardless of the income possibilities, but lawyers, I believe are the higher income earners and this depends on who employs you. If you do cpa work for the very rich, then the rewards could be enormous. Maybe try going into a dual occupation...get certified for the accounting side and go for the law degree also....then you will be versatile and have more to offer when applying to companies. Your resume can't help from being impressive if you are educated and qualified in both fields.

Definitely go for accounting--sounds like you would enjoy being a corporate accountant more than a public one though. An accounting degree takes less time/money/effort than a law degree, and if you are still interested in law, you could get a job as a fraud investigator with a financial institution or even the FBI or CIA.

I would advise you to go for the CPA. There always will be a need for a CPA-regardless if the market is good or bad.

Why not mix the two? Become a tax lawyer of some sort. Seems like the best of both worlds!

Good luck in your decision =)

You could do both. I had a professor in college teaching tax and he had both, it really helped with his success. He could do a lot more to help his clients than just a cpa could.

I'm trying to learn latin, any pointers?
