I had a blood pregnancy test done, pre-procedure and found out I was pregnant, about a week before I was even suposed to start my period. It detects the amount of HCG (the pregnancy hormone) in the blood. It doubles about daily when you are pregnant. Every woman has a level of about 9. To be pregnant, you have to have a level of 36. My first test was inconclusive at 18. If it is not a defiinite negative, they will recheck it. Most pee tests say "as early as the first day of a missed period." Like I said, I found out a week before my period was even due with the blood test.

The blood test is def. more accurate. A lot of times the urine test gives false readings, or can't pick up anything and says negative when in fact you are pregnant. To be more safer a blood test would be better... then again there has been cases where blood tests were also wrong. So do both, and wish for the best, lol!!! Good luck!

A blood test is 100 % accurate. A simple urine test which you can buy at the pharmacy is less than 50% accurate. To prove a point, my brother took the urine test with his girlfriend and the results were HIS pregnant and his girlfriend isn't. If you want to be sure, just go to a doctor for a blood test. You will have the results in 1-2 hours.

Yes a blood test is more accurate than a urine test and yes it can be taken earlier. A blood test can be taken at the earliest, 7 or 8 days after fertilization. A urine test can be taken at the earliest, 5 days before your next period is due.

A blood test is way more accurate. It can show HCG levels at about 5 where as pregnancy tests don't detect until hcg levels are at 50 or more. I would say that within a couple of days after conceiving you could blood test and find out.

It was always more accurate for me to do the blood test. I always knew before my missed period, so a blood test could tell me at least a week sooner than a urine test.

After implantation is complete, it can take three or four days for the hormone hcg to be in your blood stream. If you think about blood, it gets filtered through your kidney, and then expelled as waste ( or urine ) so, after detectable in your blood, it could take two or three days before enough is detectable in your urine.
So, if you ovulate on day 14, you might implant on day 24, start producing hcg on day 27 and it could be detected in your urine on day 30. This varies a lot from one woman to the next, that's why some women can get positive tests way before their expected period and some don't for up to a week after!
Hope this helps.
