Well, I never give the "traditional" gifts. I always talk with them well in advance, and try to find out if they're in need of anything around the house. Something that they could both use, for example, a dvd player. Another thing I have done in the past is hired a handy man to fix things around their house, when they couldn't afford to do it. These are just different ideas, the sky's the limit. Hope I've helped you with this. Best of luck to you.

an eternity ring is traditional after 1 year of marriage or the birth of your first child. Paper ideas are tough . cash is too obvious and not very personal . if you have a good size garden buy a small tree( and the two of you plant it together as your marriage grows so will the tree awwwwww i'm so cheesy

How about a nice framed print of perhaps the place you got married at. You could take a favorite photo of the two of you and have some one sketch it in black and white (that can get a little pricey) and have it framed. Or you can go to http://www.oneshare.com/ maybe there is something on that site that symbolizes something in your relationship. Congrats on your anniversary.

Could always get them a plaque for the door of their house, if they have one, with their last name "The Smith's" or there is a Gaelic saying you can get that is to hang as well "Cead Mil Failte" which means "a hundred thousand welcomes"

How about air tickets to Paris, or if that a bit too expensive, maybe a special photo enlarged and framed.
