They do understand.

They just don't want to acknowledge it because that would force them to put more environmental restrictions on companies... and we all know Republicans are owned by big business.

Well my opinion is that Bush ain't that great. I watched a documentary on him. During 9/11 he was in a nursery school reading books to 3 year olds. There is a whole campaign against Bush. So i think that he doesn't really care. America produces 7 times more Co2 than any other country in the word and this number is climbing rapidly. Now with this war its gonna break out into world war 3 because of one unintelligent person. This is going to cause the Stratosphere to collapse because of all the fuels released to produce the mass weaponry. Where do you Bush will be? most probably in an underground bunker not caring for the slightest thing. But it isn't only the Us government to blame. OH NO! its not its the people who vote for him as well cause they cant see him as an Idiot

If you have even a rudimentary understanding of geology or knowledge of meteorological history, then you understand that the earth is a living thing. It breathes. It's temperature rises and falls periodically-without the help of mankind, SUVs and cow farts. You would also know that comprehensive records have only been kept for the last 100 years or so (vintners in France not withstanding) So there's really not much basis for this claim of global warming. There was this big, cold ice age thing-remember? Do you think it was caused by dinosaurs driving SUVs?

Maybe if the tree huggers were a bit less full of beans, there'd be less methane in the air. That may help.

I assume you mean global warming as caused by Man. In that case, the government doesn't recognize it because it's not real.

Why do you believe in man-made global warming? Ignore Al Gore, he's the twit of the century. Look at what climatological scientists are saying. There are small, isolated instances of warming - not at all global - and those are natural occurences for a living, breathing planet.

In case you've forgotten, in the 1970s lots of kooks (just like Al Gore) were warning us about global cooling and that we were going to enter an ice age by the 21st century.

The planet warms a little. It cools a little. Nothing on the planet stays exactly constant. There's ebb and flow.

It's much like shouting into a hurricane. Your voice can't be heard, and, everyone goes around telling you that their problem is much more important.

Telling THIS Bush that there is a global warming problem, if he listens, will likely get you a response you won't like. When his dad, the former president was asked about the dangers posed by the growing hole in the ozone layer, he one responde by telling everyone to go out and buy a hat.

Mr. Dubya might tell you to recharge your air conditioner.

because there is no comprehensive link between human activity and global warming, the temperature has only risen by 1 degree in the past 100 years, because the polar ice caps are thickening in the center, and because the earth has gone through hundreds of climate changes in the past...
those that believe in the "threat" of global warming tend to believe in evolution and yet they freak out about global warming when their other beliefs tell them that life has the ability to adapt.

I think he does know that the earth is warming, but I would say that in this rare instance he is showing a little common sense by realizing that nothing can be done about Gods plan for His earth (that's God's earth all you critics). God doesn't make any mistakes, he knows what he is doing and sure doesn't need any help or advice from us. He knew what would become of this little speck in his universe from the very beginning.

Because Global warming isn't running their SUVs. OIL is. Global warming isn't paying for their 10,000 sq. foot mansions. Their investments in OIL are. Global warming isn't fueling their BBQ on the 4th of July picnic while thousands DIE in IRAQ because of OIL.

from 1880 to 1975, the average temp of the world dropped, from 1975 to 1998, it rose, from 1998 to 2004, it dropped, from 2004 to now, it has risen.... Why can't people understand that global temperature shifts are a natural occurrence?

Because the oil companies give the govt. money and Bush's dad made his fortune off oil. Oil companies don't want alternative fuels to replace fossil fuels.
