Bald Eagles are thought to have the best eyesight of any animal, having up to eight times the resolving power of the human eye. The retina has two focusing foveae (human eyes have only one) which allows them to use both eyes together (binocular vision like humans) for telescopic viewing, or each eye independently (monocular vision) for up close viewing. They see in color.

It all depends on what environment they live in. There are nocturnal (night) animals that see very well at nightime. Birds of prey (eagles, hawks, falcons) have great eyesight for when they are high in the sky. Octopi have great eyes for being underwater. SO, it all depends on where they are.

The best sight in terms of resolution is quite possible the octopus... although eagles have a very high density of rods and cones, their optic nerve is not much larger than other vertebrates... The octopus however has extremely large optic nerves and is thought to be the result of "high definition" and extremely high frequency of image capture enabling it to sense even the most subtle of movements.
