With little kids, Wilderness Cabins or other Fort Wilderness accommodations are great choices. It's a single boat ride to Magic Kingdom, which is the best park for the little ones. And, unlike the hotels, there are lots of other activities for kids, like a petting zoo and playgrounds.
If you opt for a hotel, I think you might like the Polynesian better than the Contemporary, as it has nicer, more child-friendly outdoor areas and a soft sand lakeside beach. Also, you get a great view of the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks show from this beach.
If further inquiries put these accommodations off budget, look to the "middle" grade hotels. They don't cost that much more than the "economy" grade, and are much much more convenient and comfortable.
Disney food prices make Tokyo and Moscow seem cheap in comparison. I advise either you get a room with fridge & microwave or you bring an ice chest and electric kettle. Price the snacks and prepared foods in the hotel (or campground) convenience store; it will cost less than the restaurants and snack bars and probably be more to the tastes of the bambinos.

Hi, I am a Florida native and I believe that I may be of some assistance. I go to Orlando every other weekend so I definitely have my share of travel and lodging experience. Were you looking to stay in the heart of Disney or the Kissimmee St Cloud area? Is there a specific budget? Personally, I like the wilderness cabins, most people won't give them a try or have no simple idea that cabins are a lodging option. The bottom line is comfort. You can also stay at a low cost suite such as The Enclave or a Disney Resort. Visit the links below. I hope I have helped.

I have stayed at the Contemporary and at Wilderness Lodge. The Contemporary is great if you stay in the main building. We were first put in one of the side buildings and walked forever to get to our rooms. After a long day at Disney that made for a rougher day. The main building was awesome though. We had a view facing the Magic Kingdom and could see the castle from our room. A couple of nights we watched the fireworks from our balcony. It was beautiful. It was even prettier than from the park, because we were able to see the castle and fireworks with a whole view. k
The Wilderness Lodge was very rustic and neat for my husband. My daughter enjoyed it also. It was a little quieter than the Contemporary. We took the boat to the Magic Kingdom and my daughter loved that. These 2 are very different and we enjoyed each. It was just 2 different ways of life. I think I enjoyed the Contemporary more though.
Have fun......

heavily, seem on the Disney fee hotels. If all your going to do is Disney then they are so well worth it. you are able to actual shop money while procuring a Disney eating Plan, often times then even furnish it unfastened. the wonderful clarification for staying on assets is the convenience and convenience that incorporates staying on assets and interior the "Disney Bubble" even while your at inn you experience such as you by no ability left the parks. Even the main inexpensive motel has magical features to it. You get to appreciate better magic hours it fairly is a time while in user-friendly terms Disney motel customer can appreciate the rides. Disney Transportation is the wonderful. It makes it rather hassle-free in case you ought to circulate back on your inn for slightly relax. once you reside off assets you the two ought to hire a vehicle and pay 14 money an afternoon to park. It additionally takes a good a million/2 hour to get out of your vehicle to the gate front to MK. in case you get suckered in a inn by ability of "unfastened return and forth to disney or much less then a mile from WDW" you would be caught with an unreliable return and forth which could take properly over and hour to do a 10 min tension. they generally have the final return and forth circulate away formerly the rather end of day and formerly the fireworks. I even have met this way of super kind of persons who've been stranded or waited 2 hours for a bus to reach. Its rather not well worth it.

It depends on your budget. All Star is the cheapest, but the rooms are small and you almost hit the bed with the door when you enter the room. The Boardwalk is more expensive and more spacious. You have your own french doors that open to a little verandah. You can walk or take the boat to both Epcot and MGM. Then the Disney buses will take you everywhere else. If you want a middle priced resort try Port Orleans - Dixie Landings. Good Luck and Have fun!

Both are great resorts. But I think with younger kids, they would have a blast at the campgrounds, there is a lot to do and there is also more space. But, the grounds is a lot larger and you will have to do more walking.
Contemporary is great because of being on the monorail. With two small children, there is a good chance you will be at Magic Kingdom a lot, so I think this might be your best option.
Both are great, you can't go wrong. But, if you like the themeing of Wilderness Campgrounds, you could also consider Wilderness Lodge, it is similar but not as large of a room. Polynesian is also similar but has a more tropical feel, but still has the dark woods and things, but, you get the monorail.
You really can't go wrong, they are all great choices.
Have fun and good luck to your husband!

Definitely stay on property, but more specifically where there's other transportation so you won't have to bother with the crowded Disney buses that often. You see, if you stay at the contemporary, the polynesian, or the Grand Floridian there is a monorail that stops at the hotels that takes you to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Monorails are a lot more comfortable than the Disney buses, trust me. Or if you stay at the Boardwalk, Beach club, or yacht club you can walk to EPCOT or take a boat ride to MGM. The boat ride is really nice 'cuz its air conditioned on the inside and it doesn't take long to get to MGM Studios. if you can avoid the Disney Bud transportation, I reccomend it because usually they're so crowded that you have to stand, and not to mention you have to wait for it at the bus stop. You could just hop right on a monorail or boat!
Anyways have a Magical trip!

My husband and I took two of our grandchildren there last year and we stayed at the Contemporary. It was great because they have a cafeteria on sight, swimming pools, very large game room. You can see Space mountain from the parking lot and it is a 10 minute walk to the Magic Kingdom gates. So when the youngest, who was 2 at the time, got tired, I just walked back to the hotel and my husband stayed at the park with the 7 year old.

Between the two I would pick the Contemporary. There are a host of brand new rooms (just redone) There is Chef Mickeys, and the monorail is seconds away from the Magic Kingdom (or a 5 min walk).

The All Star Resorts are nice and affordable. Great for kids. My husband and I are kids at heart and we had a blast. We went there for our honeymoon. I don't know if you drink but there is a bar right beside all the pools so you can hang out while keeping an eye on your kids. And there is free rides to all the parks so you don't have to worry about driving.
