I'd think twice about moving there. Crime is up, housing is expensive and traffic is awful. Don't get me wrong, I love Las Vegas, but I think the saying "it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there" rings true.
Good luck!

I would wait until after summer passes are you will hate it immediately. Summer sucks but the pay off is the other 9 months are wonderful.
Another poster wrote about crime being up, traffic is lousy, housing being pricey and that is much more true now than when I moved here 10 years ago. Crime rates being higher is a result of more ppl moving in. The housing has gotten ridiculous you know it's bad when I couldn't buy the house I live in now if for some reason if I had to re-buy it!
Jobs there are lots but to get right into a casino does not happen. Depending on what you can do and want to do if you did something like Admin Assistant you should be able to get in easy. I don't think it would be hard to get a job quick but just be prepared to have a crap job until you get the job you want. You can find okay apartments in okay areas of town for a decent price. You will be able to tell by driving around where you would like to live.
I would even try to get the job first then you could worry about finding a place to live close to the job. That would help with traffic. Traffic here is always "under construction" my joke is they should put that under the "welcome to las vegas" sign. That also is a direct result of so many people moving in.
I never go to casinos or gamble...well I shouldn't say never sometimes for a movie or a show, or dinner. But it is a great place to live. There is always something to do. People say it's terrible place to raise a family but most of those people don't realize away from the strip we have normal suburbia just like everywhere else. They just see the glitz of downtown.
If you like it a llittle warmer with not a lot of preciptation then you will love it!

First make sure you can get a job. My friend moved there 4 years ago thinking she can get a casino job. Wrong! She had to establish residency and worked at the crap places first. Now she works at the MGM in reservations.
Second, make sure you can handle the extreme weather. Its blazing hot in the summer, and it can get very cold in the winter. I'd go looking for a place right now and see if you can afford it and can take the condition.
Lastly, have a plan 2 in case your job falls through. Vegas is growing very fast, and you have to be 2 steps ahead of the competition!

I made the move last yr. Prices up but are everywhere. I live out on Boulder Hwy near Sams Town. Nice area. Summerlin & Henderson also have good locations. People can tell you all the problems but a big move always has problems to solve. Just do it if you have some reserves to fall back on.
