I am thinking about having microdermabrasion done at the professional salon. Is it effective in diminishing freckles and scars?

Yes, it is very effective. Do not expect miracles, but you will look about 10 to 15 years younger. Also if you want enjoy this summer, it is better wait until winter because you have to be careful with the sun.
Good luck!!

you should try susan lucci's microdermabrasion kit first. I've had microdermabrasion done over a 7 week period and there was no real noticible difference. over a very long period, yes. really just depends on how fast your cells renew. you can also use something like apricot scrub, in a circular motion on your face. the whole idea of all these treatments is to remove the outermost layer so that the skin cells renew on top the skin. microdermabrasion treatments every 7-10 days. apricot scrub every 2-3, depending on how much pressure you apply. basically when your skin feels back to normal, you can do it again. can be used in conjunction with retin-a to help renew skin faster. use a good moisturizer after each treatment. one that doesn't burn your skin. preferably something with sunscreen. try oil of olay sensitive skin spf15

For freckles and scars, I would tell you to try some skin lighteners from the local drug store, before spending alot of money and getting minor results. I used to use this skin lightener from AVON, it worked great for my acne scars, and now they are gone.
