Indians feel washing with water more hygienic and natural, so they prefer water than toilet paper. Though using toilet paper is not a taboo, yet water is always preferred.

Most of Indians don't use toilet paper because of following reasons.
1) On using toilet paper **** keep sticking rather gets rubbed round the ***.
2) they use water to wash the **** instead of toilet paper and wash hands with soap which is more hygienic.

Stop making fun.

You need to BUY toilet paper.
You don't need to buy water in India.

Some people in India use toilet paper. It is not treated as sin.

Those who like using water feel the same way about those using paper to clean.

By the way, how were they cleaning before toilet paper was invented?

Don't give funny answer if you do not know.

Paper in India denotes the knowledge since ancient times (since Rigveda period). Knowledge are called "Vidya" and this word is very sacred. Saraswati is God for "Vidya" in India.

As paper is/was worshiped in India (a cultured Indian people never touch foot to any paper), it was not ever thinked to use this to clean*******.

Indians continue to use water ( every human were using water prior to coming paper). Washing***** with water is more hygenic than washing ***** with paper. Later Indian wash their hand with shop or other cleaning materials. In village they use ash as shop is another items that need to spend money.

Indian are using their left hand to wash*** as they worship with their right hand. All other works including eating are also done by right hand.

When I was in Japan during my study, these type of questions are ussual. We can not say person who ask this is making fun, he might want to understand this properly. May be this is cultural shock and he want to know this in depth. Better to give them a detail and right answer.

We do use toilet paper, but then we wash up with water to make sure we super clean.

We are just very hygenically sensitive since birth as it is carried down from generation to generation.

Without water, ure never really satisfied that u are reaaaaly clean.

The first reason is to conserve paper, and not be wasteful. Also, traditional Indian toilets cannot flush toilet paper, so that is not a viable option. Water is more hygenic and cleaner, as you do not have to soil your hands. Therefore, toilet paper is not widely used, although some do prefer it.

There is mixed reaction to this question plus its does come down to choice and not race or culture. Some indians do and some dont just like there is preferance of doing things in each culture. Just as the rest of the world dont think as all whites being trailer trash or all Mexican jumping the fence to be in the states. Its a matter of choice just as you have in this forum to ask stupid question and someone posting a question as to why you would ask such a stupid question. Its a matter of choice and not culture or race. You havbe a right to be stupoid just as the indians or anyone else in this world have a right to their choices.

This question is a deliberate insult to Indians. Some of the answers are ridiculous.

India is a tropical country. It is a must to wash with the water after passing the stool. They then wash their hands with a toilet soap or some other medium. This is what is being done in all the Asian and African countries. This is happening in some European countries too. Why then pick up on India only?

It is okay for the others to use the toilet paper. Now what happens is that some residue is always left behind after using the toilet paper. This residue results in asshole infections. This does not happen in the case of using water. Then the "tpus" smell very bad to avoid this they have to use the deodarant or perfumes.

Probably the questioner has an axe to grind against India. Probabaly he must be smelling full of residue of the loo.
