I have noticed that the spark plug boots have a metal heat shield. Do I need a special plier to remove these boots?

Snap-On sells a spark plug wire remover tool. It's like a long pair of pliers with a plastic coated rounded end that goes over the boot so that you can squeeze and twist the boot at the same time

There is a special socket that you need to get the boots off of the plugs. It's about a $20.00 tool. Get a Chiltons guide and it'll tell you the name of the tool so that you can go to an auto parts store and order it.

no just twist and pull they may be a bugger to get off but if youre putting new ones on dont worry about it but dont jerk up and down or you could crack a spark plug... have fun

If I had this car I would pour gasoline on it and light a match. It will definitely fix your plug problem.

just pull, they can be a *****, just pull as low on the boot as possible so it dosent break the plug or the wire.
