My tongue hurt when the piercer pulled on it to screw the bead on, but it didn't hurt to have the needle or the barbell put through. I drank lots of frozen coffee for the next few days and rinsed with listerine every time I put anything in my mouth. It didn't hurt, it was just sore, like I had bruised it, and a little swollen. I loved it, though - if I weren't getting ready to start a new job, I would do it again. :)

It didn't hurt me. It shouldn't hurt as long as you go to someone who knows what they are doing. There are no nerves in the very center of your tongue, therefore you can't feel it. It hurts worse to bite your tongue, because your teeth are jagged and there are nerves on the side. I went to BK and pigged out right after I got mine done. The only thing that was weird was I could not swallow a pill. It was the hardest thing to do. However, I did end up chipping some of my teeth spending about 5,000 in veneers...

I don't think you should do this before such a special occasion. My son did this and it does hurt depending on how you tolerate pain. Some swell up, I'm sure you wouldn't want that to disrupt your Sweet Sixteen :) It might affect the way you talk as well until it's healed. Be careful Missy.... I'd like to see you enjoy your party :) Happy Birthday to you!

Well i have friends who had there tongue pierced, from what they told me, it feels like a strong pinch but then it gets lum, like if you go to the dentist after they are finish with your teeth, u feel your mouth Lum. But good luck , afterwards because U MUST KEEP your tongue clean all time.. and don't eat spicy foods for a while. =)

Yes, your tongue is just a muscle so your piercing through very sensitive tissue.

I was with my friend when she got hers done, and she said the only part that really felt weird is when they have to slide the actual ring through after the needle. And for a couple days after it'll be swollen which might make it hard to talk.
