You can solve this using proportions. If the rectangles are similar, then the ratio of length to width is the same for both rectangles.

For the first problem, n/8 = 15/10
Cross multiply to get 10n = 15*8
10n = 120
n = 12 meters

For the second problem, n/16 = 15/12
Cross multiply to get 12n = 15*16
12n = 240
n = 20 inches

If you want to make these problems a little easier, try simplifying the ratio that you know before you cross-multiply.

1) n/8=15/10. Now cross multiply
n*10=8*15
10n=120. Now divide both sides by 10
n=120/10=12

2)n/16=15/12. Now cross multiply
12n=15*16
12n=240. Now divide both sides by 12
n=240/12=20
