It's quite obvious I need a D&C. My mother just had one and I've been on my menses since 4/30/06. I don't have a family doctor or OBGYN. Last time my menses lasted about a month, the ER doctor spoke of a D&C, but my menses stopped. Now, it's been nearly 3 motnhs and I know I need one, it's obvious. Can I shedule it directly with the hosp or clinic or do I have to have a doctor's referal?

You will have to find a doctor, then that doctor will have to perform some very invasive proceedures, if the doctor deems so, then the doctor will perform the D&C, but, if not, you might be placed on BC in order to regulate your cycles. D&C is only done if you have signs of a tubal pregnancy or if there is something wrong with your tubes. It is NOT done just to regulate cycles.

If you have insurance: you may need to see your primary doc, depending on your benefits or if you are on an HMO plan, However still want to set an appointment with a Doctor you confide in, especially if there is surgery involved. With today's technology a D&C isn't the only answer to your problem, there may be some other alternative. So call a doctor and schedule an appointment. But schedule with a Gynecologist.

Try a walk-in care clinic. You do have to have a gyn perform the surgery. If you don't have one and you don't have a family doctor that's probably your best bet. I am not an expert though, but I would think that if this is a reoccurring problem that you really need to see an OB/GYN. They are specially trained to treat these things.

You need to see a reputable physician and have a good pelvic exam..or if you have a OB/GYN doctor then you can cut out the middle man so to speak..they can discuss after exam the need for or not a D&C and any medical problems you may have...You can't just go in an request a D&C..

Most obgyn's will want to check you out first. They can't just perform this procedure because you think you need it. Just call the clinic and schedule an appointment and they will help you figure out what is wrong.
