Have you thought about pay per click programs? The two biggest, I think, are Yahoo! and Google

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

4) Advertise on Craiglist

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

I understand you fully; the people before me don’t understand your question. It’s relatively easy to sell a tangible product like coke. You can have pictures of it in a newspaper and have all supporting material like fries and so on. It is always a bit difficult to sell a service. Many people a weary to advertise with new companies and thus it makes it even more difficult. Another aspect is the angle you would want to use when selling a service like advertising.

It’s very easy to send a wrong signal about the type of advertising agency you run. Older companies are looking for the classic type advertisers that can reach their target market. New companies want to know whether you can outsmart the big guns at cheaper rates. You then have a difficult choice of whether you go the classic conservative old route or new radical route.

I had the very same problem when I started, don’t be discouraged. Try finding a relative centre of what the people around you are looking for. I have in the past helped people with advertising and marketing for free and then using the success as part of my profile. When you do to company representatives and referring them to a successful campaign and telling them you are now in the business they tend to listen.

I'll have to agree with the other users that answered your question by asking you... If you don't know who to advertise, then how in the world will you be to sell knowledge you don't have...

Perhaps you need to call it quits..and find something else to do. Advertising isn't for you. If you have to ask how to advertise a business you want to start..Please don't..

There are different ways you can advertise an advertising service and I have an amazing idea for you. I'll give you a few from top of my head;

IDEA 1
Right; you want to advertise your services right but this will take money. You just need to be smart and realise, that people are interested in what? Themselves.

So, find a big company first. Say to them, that you have the skills, to create your own magazine. Make sure you did your research, saying:

It's full colour, here's a rough sample of what it will look like. And on the front cover, on top, the name of the magazine is....the name of their company! They will pay a lot of money and say yes, because:

1. You are using their ego. Their name! They'll love this and also put a fill middle spread about the director, aim, vision and products of the company.

2. You have planned it out on how many copies you're going to print, where you're going to distribute, so find out all outlets who will take your magazines and make deals with them.

3. The type of readers who will read your magazine, making sure it attracts their customers. So, go to a big competitor and say, "by using your name, by helping me, a small business, the newspapers I will involve will write how you have helped a business to startup! This will give you a big credibility to people and see you really want to help the community."

Now, run to the newspapers to tell them what happened and they will write about it.

That way you got a tool paid for and you can now advertise your services and tell the story how you did it in YOUR MAGAZINE. It doesn't matter its on someone else's company name. You're getting message across on how creative you are with advertising and building partnership.

IDEA 3

Create your humourous marketing Post Card with a message. It can be an illustration, simple but gets people think and on the back you have the details of your company name, address, etc details.

So now, you got people using your cards and its going everywhere and they're using them because they're humourous, clever, smart and someone is going to pick them up, maybe a company and contact you.

IDEA 4

You can do a Yearly Calendar and you're company can lead it. You can go to to printers and find out how much it costs to print say 10,000 copies. Now you know how much it costs to design and print.

Now, use this to help a charity too and this will help raise your profile.

Then you go to companies and say, "I am looking for companies that will advertise to raise monies for this charity."

Go to big companies but only after you divided the page with loads of adverts and know how much to charge each company to pay for printing.

The companies will recieve companies of the Yearly Calandar to give to their customers. To show they are helping the community. It raises their profile.

Also go to newspapers to also pay and put an advert in this A1 Yearly calendar.
