Can only be done with an attorney, legally/permanently. You can go to your courthouse and register an "alias", 'also known as' "AKA". The fee is small but usually must be re-registerd periodically in a few years. This is a legal signature that can be used in business affairs and on some legal documents. I'm not an atty., but I did change my name to a short spelling in business for a time over 30 years..
