I asked the same question a while back ->

1. don't leave class until you absolutely understand everything
2. ask why - understand the method/process and you'll be able to do any sum
3. avoid using a calculator - they don't show you the method, learn how to do complex equations with a paper and pen and your brain.

(I'm 20yrs old - not 60!)

Take it from a person who was never that good at math in high school and is now getting a PHD in math, never give up. There is always an answer. It will get frustrating, but figuring it out yourself is the best way of learning math for the long term and actually being a decent mathematician. Also find people that will push you and help you out if you need it. Not a tutor, maybe a teacher or a proffesor. Make sure they just don't give you answers. Whenever I tutor I try to make sure there is some sort of discovery, because that is the most exciting part of mathematics.

Ok, first study. next get help with teacher or tutor. I was really never good at math bu then my mom helped me with simple fun activities that involved math, or she would give me some problems and offer a reward such as candy if i finshed the correctly. It was great, because i learned the material well. Try and have fun when you study, because just studying is boring.

You should know the four major operations well so it's just easy to solve because you will use those in every topic in math. You should also be good at analyzing in order to solve problems in math. You can ask for a tutor to help you... If you have any problems to solve or something to answer which is perplexing, just post it here and maybe we can help... Good luck!

Develop a way to solve problems. quality of problem matters not the quantity..and you should have an aptitude.which I don't know how you can develop..the feeling should be there..and don't ask a problem unless you try it yourself at least a couple of times. In maths I guess once you know how to proceed , its not difficult later. So for making a headway, you need to practice, quality problems.

Math is easy. If you think it's easy, try to associate the problem with real life events, then it's easy. If you think math is hard, then you are telling your brain that you are doing something that you dont' think you can handle.

Like the dude above me, don't use a calculator.
