You probably renamed the file extension as well. Most photos have a .jpg, .gif or .jpeg extension. Right-click the file and rename it again with the correct extension.

Did u rename the extension. If yes, then its associated application may change and u may not be able to open it with that application.

Retain the original extension but u can change the name and open it with the previous viewer (application like paint, or photo viewer etc).

It should open.

You've probably changed or deleted the extension of the file. The extension tells your computer what program is used to open the file. The extension is the last 3 characters after the period (like .jpg or .bmp. or .tif). Put it back to what it was and try to open it again.

each file has an extension, i.e. filename.jpg, or filename.bmp,etc.
when you renamed it, you may have omiited the extension. Try renaming again using the extension it originally had.

Hard to answer without additional information. Is it possible that you changed the file extension to something that is not recognized by your operating system or left an extension off completely?
(xxxxx.jpg changed to xxxxx.jgp or
xxxxx.gif changed to xxxxx.gfi or
xxxxx.png changed to xxxxx for example).

you might have also changed its extension, make sure it still has .jpg (or whatever format it was) at the end of its name
