I absolutely love flux core I do not think it is messy at all I worked for a compactor company for 5 years and I welded hundreds if not thousands of miles of beautiful beads (welds) it does leave flux on the weld jest like welding with a stick welder but it chips right off it leaves very little if any slag with argon MiG welding if there is a little breeze from a fan or a little wind it blows the argon away from the weld and you get impurities in the weld (weld looks like Swiss cheese) I have also used flux core in many applications over the past 27 years it is my favorite type of welding and the easiest hands down.
