Even at the same places I've shopped for years, I still have to study it. Why is it that they are all so different? Swipe this way, swipe that way, feed it in here, etc.

I believe the confusion comes from the variety of manufacturers who make the machines. Some readers swipe up and down, with the magnetic side either to the right or left.

Some swipe from right to left, and again the magnetic side can be on either side.

Others are flat. These are the lease confusing because you intuitively place the card face up and swipe

I usually get it right when I first go to do it, but then I make the mistake of looking at the diagram and it throws me off! I stand in line holding everybody up at the grocery store swiping it every which way but the correct way, like a fool! Oh, and I hate those damn ATM cash-back things in checkout lines, they are such a PIA! I just wanna pay for my stuff and go!

LOL! No it helps me! I always look at it before I swipe my card because they're all different and I don't want to look like a dumna** who can't do it right. : )

I get confused and look at it a few times and then try. But I usually go to the same stores and I am used to which way it goes.lol

Usually the drawing is most helpful,but some places don't have that,so you have to ask what way it goes in.

Once I've looked at it three or four time I tend to get to grips with whats going on. Not everyone's as lucky as me mind...
