We didn't. And we didn't do it for oil either.

Actually we did it to get rid of some trash (Saddam) that WAS supporting terrorism. Too bad there are so many more people who are doing the same thing. Else we wouldn't be in Iraq now.

Now was he activly supporting Al Qaeda? Probably not. But he was giving open support to several other terrorist organizations. Was Al Qaeda against Saddam for religious reasons. I don't think so. I'm not sure if the saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, came from the middle east. But I think it probably fits. After all Roosevelt and Churchill both considered Stalin an ally against Hitler.

So the bottom line is it's hard to know just what to believe. The reasons are probably not as cut and dried as you believe they are. We attacked Iraq to get rid of Saddam Hussein. Why? I can give you a hundred reasons. All of which are logical and reasonable. Who's going to choose which ones are real? You? Me? Who?

There are many different reasons for attacking Iraq... One of which being that Saddam Hussein financially supported and trained those who have committed acts of terror. It may be true that none of the terrorist that attacked the USA on 9/11 were Iraqi, but the system that was in place in that country was definitely a haven for those who were plotting against America.

People believe what they want to believe. I don't believe we went there to get rid of terrorist but some people do. You can have the best evidence that we did not go there to get rid of terrorist and people will turn from it. Just keep fighting the good fight and let the chips fall where the may. The truth is America will never really know why we went there so do even kill your self trying to change others minds. All you can do is tell the truth to the best of your knowledge.

Because all rumors to the contrary, and all so-called liberal newscasters behind-the-desk to the contrary, the fact is, the Media in the United States has been owned by the CEOs and the politicians Big Oil owns in particular since *day one*.

And when you have *all* of your major electronic media outliets, in radio, TV, online, and even the occasional print outlet, *all* in the palm of the hand of a seriously and willfully mis-informed and mis-appointed "president", well, you can imagine the results.

In plain English, advertising works for a reason. Peer pressure works for a reason. Most folks can't even *stand* the idea of being different from their peers, never mind being a minority of one and refusing to believe the *sheer tidal wave of hype* that the Mass Media put behind damn near *everything* G.W. Bush did in the Year of 9-1-1 (the year following that tragedy, wherein everyone sold their soul to the devil, in my humble but biased opinion).

Hope this helps.

Didn't Bush say something about the war in Iraq being based on getting at "those who attacked us on 9/11"?

The White House spin machine - Bush & Cheney kept linking Saddam Hussein with 9/11 and Osama bin Laden, even though the two men never met and had virtually no connections to each other (Bin Laden actually hated Saddam, and would've danced a jig with Ariel Sharon before working with Saddam)

Also, most people are content with what they're told. Finding out the truth is too much work...

People think that Bush answered with war on Iraq because of 911
and that the terrorist came from Iraq

Iraq was in violation of over 20 UN resolutions and sanctions dating back to the Gulf War. Thus, making the cease fire we signed with them void, giving us full legal rights to use force. So go hug a tree, save a baby seal, light up a "dooby", get in your tie-dyed VW bus, and head on over to Canada.

Well because these people either chose to believe the President or all the pissed off little liberals who are trying to sabotage the war because they aren't getting their own way.

Me I chose to believe the President and not the left wing cry baby "I'm going to tell my mommy" liberals.

because it's true?

or think about it another way, why else would we attack Iraq? What other motives could there be that would justify the destruction and expense?
