i think you will find it's around the penis ? and you'r balls and it's to keep the heat regulated around that area,

the only purposes that come to mind are temperature control and added (natural) sensation. There may be others, but it is not something I dwell on ;)
I did think of another reason: Pheromone distribution. The groin area is a rampant with pheromones and the hairs act as a wick drawing them into the air for the female to breathe in.

too keep it warm...dunno you dont need the hair. i guess its just a "milestone" to show that you're growing properly. you can shave it off but ask your doctor first and be careeful. hair is probably just for......nothing. like on your head. bald people are healthy aren't they?
