Voodoo dolls are not really scary.

I am a practicing Wiccan and have been for 20 years. In Wicca (also in Pow Wow), as well as in Voodoo, the actual dolls are called "poppets". These are used to represent the person for who the magick is being performed.

Here's an example: If someone was sick, the person who would make the poppet would first get permission of the sick person, that "yes" they would like a poppet made. After this has been established, you would either buy a small doll or make one yourself, putting hair and nail clippings inside of the doll, along with herbs for health, etc. You can dress the doll with pictures of the person (to further represent the person to the fullest extend) and you can add a piece of clothing from that person. After everything is prepared, you would bless the poppet thru the elements (water, earth, air, fire) and then give the blessed poppet to the person for them to put away safely where no one will bother it.

Basically a poppet is another form of a good luck charm.

On a side note: Poppets can be used for dark magick, but most Wiccans, Pow Wow's and Voodoo Practitioners only use poppets for health, prosperity and the like.

I hope that my answer has cleared up a few misconceptions.

Have a lovely rest of the day....Bright Blessings....

I think they are great and would love to have a few of them-I could have some fun making peoples lives a misery with illness and even death-especially the ones who have annoyed me!

Once my friensds made a voodoo doll of me in Alaska and they stabbed me in the stomach, my left leg and my head. I had my back turned but i felt all three! Then they burned me in the bonfire but I didn't feel it...

I like the idea of "playing" with them in a joking fashion to take out frustrations of being "done wrong" by whoever. However, to really try to hurt someone with them isn't a good idea. What goes around comes around. Don't warp your mind over someone who isn't worth it.

They are useless. It's the power of will that makes change, not a silly doll.
