When you feel good. There's no good in being happy ALL the time because how can you judge your feelings if they are all the same? Some sadness comes into even the most optimistic lives. Just live your life to the best of your ability and be happy that you are doing that.

Cheer up. Life is too short and you don't get a second chance. Make the most of what you've got... and a hundred-thousand other useful homilies.

Take care of yourself.

Someone should be happy when they think about how lucky they are.

When they have life, when they have friends and family, when they have food on the table, when they have good health, when they have love. Need I go on...

Any one or combination of these things should make you happy because know this that there are some who have none. When you are grateful you are happy.

I read somewhere that happiness is a emotion that is engaged when circumstance (s) around us is pleasing while Joy on the other hand is internally engaged by the condition of the soul...

Why ask? Is being happy a matter of "when"? You either are happy or not. Any time. Happiness is a subjective feeling, usually accompanying some pleasant experience. It never lasts. just like pleasant experiences don't last. People who want to pursue happiness will never be happy. I am a mature person and have found out that the best way to live is not to think of myself and my imagined wants and needs at all. Think of how to make others happy.

All the time!

True, there are times when it's not appropriate to be completely....overbearing and joyful. Like at a funeral, you're not gonna be bouncing around saying what a wonderful day it is, but there's always a reason to be happy even when the things around aren't particularly enjoyable. Life itself is something to be happy about.

There is no definite "should" when it comes to emotion. The first response that you were given is dangerously incorrect. If you find that you're not happy even when events around you should be making you happy (a great birthday party, a fun day out, etc.), maybe you're depressed. If you're worried that you feel low a lot, find someone to talk to.

you should always try to be happy. I know sometimes it is tough when you don't get that job or things don't go to plan But. You were able to get to the interview You got either short listed or they were so impressed with your CV the wanted to see you. Many people would not have been able to read the post for the job. you have the common sense to know that something has gone wrong and you can try to fix it. Many people would not even know that something had gone wrong.

Any way when you smile it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

At birth the human is a seeker by nature. he/she wants everything (better for free if possible).
At the end of life the human tries to be a Donor.
In the first case the human gets his happiness from owning things. In the second case the human gets his happiness from being able to give other humans.
The equilibrium case is when a human can feel happiness equally from getting or giving.

Ideally all the time. But that's not possible, so I'd say it should be as often as possible. And please don't let other people make you unhappy. Try to focus on the more pleasant things in life. Some times the simplest things can make a person more happy than the more complex things.

When they no longer feel the need to ask silly bloody questions ...like this.

As for 'practising' a smile, then 'doing it all the time,' that's about as false as practising to walk with a limp.

We smile because we have reasons to do so. If this were not so, then we'd all be smiling all the time and the world would be devoid of jokes and those who tell them.

May you find an interesting ('quality' like) question to ask.
Sash.
