I have believed that an oxymoron is a phrase of two conflicting terms -- giant shrimp, military intelligence, etc. War and terror are not conflicting terms. Although war on terror is a strange phrase in that it basically says terror or terror, I do not believe it is an oxymoron.

"War" follows strict UN guidelines such as:

Wars should be limited to achieving the political goals that started the war (e.g., territorial control) and should not include unnecessary destruction (Ok, so we're still good here, depending on how you look at it...)

Wars should be brought to an end as quickly as possible
That people and property that do not contribute to the war effort be protected against unnecessary destruction and hardship
To this end, laws of war are intended to mitigate the evils of war by: (Our war is slipping closer to terrorism after reading this one...)

Protecting both combatants and noncombatants from unnecessary suffering; (Crap, you're right)

Safeguarding certain fundamental human rights of persons who fall into the hands of the enemy, particularly prisoners of war, the wounded and sick, and civilians; and (We are just as bad as they are...)

Facilitating the restoration of peace.

Okay, so my point failed. So much for Wikipedia. But generally, there ideally should be a difference.

the bush bashing, conservative hating, left leaning elitist media understand that even they are hated and not safe from the bin laden types in our world today. They may use bumper sticker logic like "make peace not war" but dont be fooled, even a liberal appreciates it when a high ranking terrorist is taken down. That is exactly what Bush is doing and your welcome. Since 9/11 not one U.S. citizen killed on U.S. soil by terrorist, coincidence right?
