I am entering high school this fall as a freshman but i would like to get a head start on researching information regarding the field of psychiatry. i would like to become a child psychiatrist and i need some help with my research. If you have any websites or just your own info it would be helpful. If u know any colleges that offer this undergrad degree please list them. ~Thanks Very Much!~

Pretty much *all* 4-year colleges offer undergrad degrees in psychology. However, none of them will offer an undergrad degree in psychiatry, since, to become a psychiatrist, you need to get a medical school degree.

On an unrelated note, I just want to say that your post has really made my day....it's great to see that there are still kids entering high school that can write and spell correctly (even if you did choose not to capitalize "I" in a few places and to use the shorthand "u" instead of "you," what you wrote is far more literate than most of the posts I see here)!

No college will offer undergrad degrees in psychiatry. You have to get a B.A. or a B.S., then go onto medical school. Any psychiatrist has to be trained just the same as a medical doctor. This is because of the whole prescription writing etc.
The best bet in hs is to really get high grades, ec activities, and have a good sat score. Try taking classes that are more bio geared, or anatomy if your school offers them.
Visit the American Psychiatric Association website too, they'll have a guiding links set up for you.
Good luck

Great to see someone having a vision right at the beginning!
What struck me is you wanting to be Child psychiatrist.
As some one else pointed above,Psychiatrists are medically trained Dr's.It is a sub speciality like any other medical field eg Cardiology,Surgery etc.Child psychiatry can be seen as a super speciality under Psych(no way I am suggesting it is superlative or unattainable)
In US APA(american psychiatrists association is a good starting point.)
