i dont know which country do u belong...

but in my country the girls (or even guys) who go in for classical dances like Bharatnatyam, Kathakali, Odissi, Kuchipudi etc colour their feet in a red colour liquid substance (which in my native language is called KUMKUM, i don't know the English word for that substance)... that substance is not harmful for skin.

The Hindu women in our country also colour their feet on various religious festivals as well (for eg. Deepawali, Karva-Chauth, Raksha Bandhan, Durga Puja, Pongal, Onam etc).
