The answer to this question depends on what you like. If you like one of the greatest stories of all time, then go with 7. 7 is also the game with the greatest villain of all time, Sephiroth. I don't know about 8 because my disks were crap. 9 was alright but a lot of people say that it sucks. It's kinda like the black sheep of the final fantasy series. 10 is absolutely awesome! The graphics, the battle system, the sphere grid, and the greatest part of all, VOICE ACTING! As for 10-2, I played it for ten minutes and I threw it against the wall. As far as I'm concerned, that game sucks the worst. Next we come to the Kingdom Hearts, if you're planning on playing those you need to start with the first one so the second one has more meaning, also you should play FF7 and 10 before you play either of them so you know a bunch of the characters better.
That's my opinion, do whatever you want with it.

I'd say 7 first. It's the easiest to get into, gameplay-wise. After that FF game mechanics begin to get wierd, with drawing magic and other stuff. After that, I 'd say X, 8, 9 in that order, X-2 if you want to play a wackier version, and finally 6. 6 is the hardest, IMO. I didn't really care for Kingdom hearts, but if you want some quick action it's a good choice because of how itneractive the battles are.

Start with 7. It is hands down the best FF ever made. The Materia system in it is by far superior to the latter systems IMHO. I got bored on disk 2 of ff8, and played ff9 for all of about 10 minutes. ff10 is pretty good though, and ff10-2 is decent as well. Never tried KH.
I will have to go through and replay all my FF games.

start with 7 then go up but i think the whole summer won't be enough to finish the whole series. 7 is pretty good but the graphic is not as good as 8 and above but according to a lot of people 7 is the best ff game me personally i like 8 better

You definetly want to start with 7. Then move on to 8. Next Kingdom Hearts, Then (if you have it) Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, Then (my favorite) Kingdom Hearts 2.

i say u should start with 9, because it is the easiest, there r great attacks and magic in it and it doesnt take off of any of the other final fantasies so it wont mess u up when u start with the other ones.

once you're contained in the mood for great old college, do FF1. in case you need an outstanding storyline known with an old-college experience, pass for FF6 or FF7. once you're contained in the mood for a tale in accordance to love, pass for FF8. (no longer a large fan of this one, in my opinion, yet settle on for your self.) once you're searching for a extra linear interest with magnificent tale/characters and good pics, pass for FF10. in case you want something lighthearted and relaxing, pass for FF10-2. and that i have not performed FF2 so i am going to't say something about it. :( i have not heard too many good issues about that one, notwithstanding.
