At 6 months that really isn't a sad weight if that is what you are implying babies often double in weight starting around 7 1/2 months. They will probably be small because there are two of them and there's not a lot of room. Small isn't necessarily bad (when born full term) they will just not have as much fat on there bodies when the are born. You must also remember that those measurements can be way off.

As for the question about always being premature - the answer is no but it is more common. My grandmother gave birth more than 50 years ago to two VERY healthy boys both weighing over 6lbs. full term that was 50 years ago when prenatal care wasn't as good as it is now.

Your sister just needs to take care of herself and her little ones and not worrier herself about something that may not happen.

Good Luck to your sister ... Twins sound fun.

Technically, something earlier 26 weeks gestation will very, very seldomly own the anatomy to really have a shot at survival; no remember how a lot technologies we've. The longer you wait, the better. Do in spite of the medical doctors inform you, they received't steer you incorrect. even once you're able to take something now that would reason some damage later, it could be better than dropping the toddler altogether. Even delivering at 26 weeks + is not any assure. Premie's face an exceedingly very lengthy street than some win and some lose. They spend months contained in the NICU attempting to mature and strengthen, even as coping with many complications alongside the way. Your health care service is your brilliant source. no longer yahoo solutions, or all people else. I want you success

My twins were 'taken' 2 weeks early which counts as a full term delivery.

6.11 and 5.6. The girl was a little "twiggy" in the arms. They're 20 months old now.

But I was very much a prem-ie with my smoking mother back in the early 60's. Me and my sister dipped down to 3.xx after birth. We were 6 weeks early, and my mother found out about 'me' on my birthday.

But remember this about weight gain, they gain about a pound durinng the last 7-10 days. And a pound the 2 weeks before that.. so it adds up pretty quickly.

I'm not gonna tell you what those twins did to my wife's teeth!!

It's 37 weeks considered mature for twins oppose to 40 weeks for singleton. But normally they arrive around 35 weeks.

its because of the space in the womb, however most twins are born after the 'scary' part where the lungs are still immature, the most you have to worry about is them being under 5lbs, they have to weigh at least that to leave the hospital. as long as she makes it past 36 weeks, it should be smooth sailing! good luck

Twins tend to be smaller cause there is only so much room for them. I think it's "SAD" that you even said that about the babies weight. Are you a doctor?
