As a soldier currently serving in Ramadi, Iraq and on my second one year tour I greatly appreciate the campaign but at the same time I have found it difficult when confronted with civilians saying 'Thankyou'. I believe it is mostly due to the fact that no one except another soldier truly understands what one must go through being separated from their wives and children and being constantly threatened with the fear of imminent death or having to pick up the pieces of one of your friends from a roadside bomb while under fire. My tours have made me appreciate more so then I already did, of those who have served before me but did not return home to the fanfare we have been given. Something that is not made known is how much your support in the form of packages and cards and letters we get is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
SSG, Infantry
Ramadi, Iraq

Even if you don't say "Thank You" to our troops, you'd better be nice to them: they've been fighting in a war, and even if you don't agree with it, think about coming home from war and having people upset at you because you did what you were supposed to. Even though you might not agree with the war, they are definitely worthy of your respect: don't treat them like crap.

Man, I'm sorry I missed that. My husband served in the first Gulf War and it makes me very aware of how badly we need to get our people home and take care of them once they are. To our fighting forces out there, should you get to read this, thank you, for everything you give us all. The English language doesn't provide us with adequate words to express the proper gratitude. Thank you and your families for ensuring our freedoms. We promise to do everything we can to take care of you and your families as well!

As a disabled Vietnam Vet and combat medic, I greatly appreciate what one must go through being separated from their spouses and children and being constantly threatened with the fear of imminent death or having to pick up the pieces of one of your friends while under fire. May God bless you and your families.

As we all should know... "Freedom is not Free".
"They" brought it to our doorstep and we have every right to prevent it from happening it again. "We" must eliminate any form of terrorism no matter from where it originates. Period.
I do "thank" all of our troops as I have family members in all of the branches of military service posted stateside and overseas doing a job that I know alot of others have no backbone to do!

Don't forget about the veterans like my Grandfather (WWII).
