For what? Different computers have strengths and weaknesses.
If you want an expensive gaming computer with pretty decals and support, you could get an alienware.
If you want a computer that's good for editing videos and music, you could get a Mac.
If you want a computer that is compatible with most everything and requires very little technical knowledge to use, you could get a Dell.
If you want to save money and don't want a warranty, you could build it yourself.
If you're really 1337, you could build it yourself AND run Unix or Linux.

The "best" depends on what you want to do. Gaming, video editing, data crunching... whatever. The "best" would be a custom-built PC, designed specifically for you, using the highest quality parts, etc. It should be a "white box" with fully compatable parts, not something proprietary like Dell or HP, so it can be upgraded/modified as time goes on. The best company I know to do this is AKtec. (www.aktec.us)
