he's afraid of losing you to a better guy, if he thinks you look too good, then he is afraid of some suave guy coming up to you and stealing you away. it is called jealousy, and he sounds controlling, you might want to rethink your relationship with him and find someone else, but just so you know, all guys will feel that way, ut not all of us will actually say it.
