First of all, the "cross of Jesus" is the Corcovado, which is in Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL - NOT Argentina.
Having said that, visit the Casa Rosada (where Evita made her famous speeches), the Recoleta Cemetery (where she is buried), La Boca (an old Italian immigrant part of town), Caminito (where they got the name for the famous tango song), Puerto Madero (restaurants and shops), and Galerias Pacificas on Calle Florida. Eat at Cabanas Las Lilas in Puerto Madero fo excellent meat. Eat at Bice for great Italian. Off the beaten path for Italian is La Parolaccia, which is excellent. Take a tour of the Teatro Colon, which is being remodeled right now, but is beautiful. There are also many museums, etc. You won't be bored.
If you have time, take an excursion to a 'quinta' (ranch) for the day. You will see the traditional Argentine 'gauchos' (cowboys) and how they prepare an 'asado'. It's a blast and worth the day trip.
Remember that the seasons are reversed, so it's summer down there in December. So, it will be hot and not all places have a/c.
Have fun!

Any trip to Buenos Aires in December should include a trip to Punta del Este in Uruguay. This place is incredible. Just take the ferry from the Buquebus terminal near Puerto Madero to Montevideo. Transfer to the bus station and, 5 hours later, you'll be sitting on the beach with the most attractive humans south of the equator.

The Palermo area is beautiful, with old houses, chic shops and a bohemian flair. If you get there early in december you may catch a polo match, it is really exciting!
