While most of the conservatives just spew the most vile, disgusting nonsense. It makes you look foolish, and invalidates any point you may have been trying to make.
BTW, thank you to the few friendly, rational conservatives that ARE here. You know who you are.

I've noticed the opposite to be true. While both sides are known to spit venom, when I read through the list of answers, the liberal trash talk outnumbers the conservative trash talk about 2 to 1.
(The exceptions is the gay marriage issue. Then the homophobes come out & make the reasonable conservatives look bad.)
We need to all try to resist the urge to get ugly when responding. And those who reward aswers like "Because Bush has his head up Jesus' ***" are just widening the divide between liberals & conservatives.
*** Check out the answers to Al Gore's question on global warming. If the conservatives were the vile people some try to claim, the Republicans would have JUMPED on the chance to say obnoxious things to Al Gore. Out of the first 180 answers, I only found 1 vile answer & 2 very rude ones from the CON side.

I am a conservative and I always try to be polite. I believe in debate not debasement. However, if you think all the liberals on Yahoo Answers are polite and civil in their answers you are not reading enough Q and A. Don't get me wrong it is not just liberals, the conservatives here can be just as bad. Somedays I get the point where I just have to shutdown the computer, because I reach a point where I just can't stand to read another line from either side.
If everyone would be as polite as you are attempting to give them credit for we might be able to have some reasonable discussions. Please do not misconstrue this post as an indictment of you because it is not intended as such. I like it when people can make intelligent points whether I agree with them or not, I like thought provoking material.

No I have never noticed it but then again its most likely Rednecks. Most liberals are more educated and the more educated one becomes the more wicked they become well in politics I should say. There is nothing wrong for change as long as it is for the better. I'd rather be ignorant than blind. Reading can also be taken many different ways as well. It depends on the reader. The tone could be all wrong.
For the moron of separation of Church and State tell that to the judicial system. When you take the "stand" why do they make you swear to God? That is "State". When the fathers wrote that they meant the corruption of the Church because of what was done in Europe. The power used to be in the Church and would rule politically. Read your history ignoramus.

I don't think flame-baiting is something most of the conservatives do here, nor is it something that some of the resident liberals show any reluctance to do.
I wish the points system could indicate which posters, both liberal and conservative, have garnered the most respect, but so many of the threads themselves are exercises in flame-baiting that the "best answer" often goes to someone who came up with the biggest insult rather than the one who came up with the most accurate and/or most helpful answer. Consequently, one has to read each post (even the pointless, cacophemistic, partisan blather) to find the posts worth reading.
I wouldn't mind seeing threads that offer at least tacit recognition to posters, both liberal and conservative, who have most consistently been open-minded, polite and helpful. Just a thought.

YES! I've been reading some of the answers and I'm repulsed at some of them. How can people be so rude? If someone states an OPINION, there's no need to jump down their throat. We're (mostly) adults here and can have friendly debates without having to be insulting. The liberals seems to have this idea down pat. Conservatives on the other hand? Not so much.

By far, the most hateful, vitriolic, demeaning, name-calling, lie spewing responses come from liberals and democrats.
....
Some so-called truth seekers should actually read the Constitution and the history of this country. The wall of separation between church and state is out of the former USSR's constitution. Ours says the state shouldn't interfere with the church, or establish a state run religion. Neither the US nor Bush has tried to do that. It's the church of atheism that has violated the so called separation.

Well it's because people like yourself and truth seeker who actually have an agenda and want to change everything to only benefit yourselves. Truth Seeker in a atheist and would like nothing more that to remove God and anything that has to do wtih the bible from the face of the earth. Sorry but that is not going to happen.
You on the other hand are a hypocrite. The following is an answer you gave to question about flag burning.
because that is the conservative way........pick an issue that stupid people are passionate about to deflect from the piss-poor job they do with the responsibilities they have

Is calling the Republican party "Repuglicans" rational and friendly? I've seen that more times than I can count.
PS: Brian H: Are you saying that people born into poverty can't help themselves? That they need government to do it for them? Weren't the Williams sisters born into a relatively poor family and now look where they are? True, college degrees won't always get you a lot of money. Maybe I should've said work hard, but I guess that's being ignorant too.

That cuts both ways. There are some nasty, bile-spewing, sore-loser libs that are lurking around here as well.
But you are right that the viscious, uninformed flamers on both sides try to say things but the points get lost in the rhetoric. If you don't believe me that it goes both ways just look at most (albiet not all) "questions" that have neocon in it.

yes i have noticed.
i think these bitter irrational attacts are the result of partisan politics. feeling that you have to defend a man whose policies have done great harm not only internally but throught the world must put great stress upon them.
its logical...when you dont or cant have a rational discourse with someone who's point of view is contra of yours, they go on the offensive, they cant defend any of his actions thru any intelictual discussion so they start name calling...for example one yahoo individual, who shall remain nameless refers to liberals as libertards...instead of discussing issues coherently he just spews out hate toward others solely based upon an opposite political view.
these are the same people who dislike the daily show w/ jon stewart because he pokes fun at the political system...they have no sense of humor
