This is a general answer and applies to all cars, a thump, thump, thump while brakes arent applied is in the tire/rim, while applying brakes is an out of round brake rotor, if you have both, then you may have 2 problems, but highly unlikely, how much to fix, depends on real problem, average cheap tire is 60bucks, rim depends on type, but a aluminum stock rim could cost couple hundred, steel is cheaper, rotors can be as cheap as 20 bucks brake pads(which you should do if you change rotors) are prob. 50bucks, labor for changing any of them depends on labor rate but sounds as if anyone with some experience can do the job for you

You could have one of three things

1. Bad tire with warped belts-$60 and up
2. Bad brakes and worn rotors-$400 and up
3. Bad front end alignment-$75 and up

Sometimes you may have more than one problem at the same time. Have a male family member with you when you have your car checked out so that they can inspect all the parts that the mechanic says are bad.

Could be your axle...could be your brakes...could be your CV joints...could be your tire. The price all depends on where you get the car fixed. I like to use reputable places (Mieneke, Pep Boys, Goodyear, etc.) that will give a warranty on their work. They will usually check your car out for free. Get to a mechanic fast! Sometimes waiting can lead to other problems.

Check tire pressure.
How old are your rotors/brake pads?

Sounds like the rotors are warped...by shaking do you mean the wheel and pedal?

If there's "thump"ing...it's the tire, may be flat, may be low. Check it before you drive it again...dont want it to blow out

It could be one of several things. Have the tire checked for ballance or out-of-roundness. If neither of these are the problem, it could be more serious like a wheel bearing, steering knuckle, or a cv joint. Have it checked by someone who does front end work.
