Just for your information:
Abe Lincoln was the first Republican president, and while not perfect, -he is seen as being instrumental in freeing the black slaves.
During the civil un-rest in the early 1960's, legislation was passed thru congress for the Civil Rights act of 1964. More republicans were behind that bill that democrats. The "southern democrat" was a real problem.
And besides, a lot of black parents don't want their young adult children to marry whites. Other than race, there's a lot more reasons that parents would promote commonality based on religion, education, language, values, ... and name a few more!!

That was/is not a conservative tradition per se. Conservatives tend to want to maintain the status quo and for things to go on just as they have in living memory. Progressive conservatives realize that there is always room for improvement and that change is inevitable and very often good and necessary.

Hon, you have your facts wrong. It was Democrats in the South who created Jim Crow and all the other horrible things that went along with it. It was two Democratic governors who stood in the doorway of schools, refusing to let Blacks get a decent education. (Remember: "Segregation now...segregation forever?" Democrat.) It was a Republican President who sent troops to the South to get those people in the schools and he was more than willing to arrest those governors if they refused to move. Know what you are talking about before you speak. Makes you look intelligent.
