I'm extremely concerned that our country is facing total chaos in the near future via the abundant corruption within our current government. I would much rather see US citizens vote for Independents, Libertarians, and or themselves, instead of so-called politicians with D's and R's following their last names.

I'm with you. I've been a conservative Republican for about 20 years and I have now officially terminated my support and membership with the RNC. The Republican party has done nothing for me in the past 5 years. And the Democratic Party certainly has done nothing for me EVER!

I'm voting Independent in 2008.

If you are a conservative I encourage you to look into the Constitution Party. http://www.constitutionparty.com/

Actually, I switched from the Libertarian party to the Democrats for the first time in over twenty years. Libertarian candidates were not getting elected. All I was doing was diluting my vote. Instead I am now voting to get balance. The US has been taken over completely by the Neo-con theocrasy. If we do not get Democrats into office soon, it may be the abolution of our present form of government forever.

Constitutional amendments making this a Christian country are just a few votes away. They are running trial balloons like the flag dessicration amendment just to check it out. School vouchers will make Christian schools get sponsored from tax dollars. Censorship and phone taps are already here. Voting machines whose results do not correspond to exit polls are here.

You can vote independent all you want but that becomes just something ignored. This is truly a two horse town. Yeah, it sucks but that is realpolitik.

I am truly afraid of the Neocon vision of Amerika. It is one of "the Long War" and the "what is good for Wal-mart is good for Amerika". It is outsourcing and very rich with very very poor and no middle class. It is an Amerika that Sinclair Lewis wrote about in _It Can't Happen Here_. Read that sometime (while they still let you read books like that.)

No, I am a Progressive and I now vote Democrat. I know that there are slimeballs out there under that tent but I like hanging with most of the Democrats alot more than I do the Republicans.

You vote the choices that you are given--and until this country has a solid third party in which there are valid choices---there is no other choice---Look at what you've suggested here--vote anything BUT----Even when the alternative canidates are unqualitied ?? or the ---vote for yourself thing -----yeah ---and then you make a statement that you're concerned about us facing chaos--take it full circle --everyone votes for themself--no one wins the office goes unfilled--statues kick in and the office gets filled by the people in power anyway---think here----

The country DOES NEED a strong third party to develop--and that is what people should be concerned at seeing happen---and I don't mean this libiterian and green party crap---I mean one based on and based for the American worker and the interests of the common guy and gal putting in the day after day and picking up the bill on all this madness---A good third party would also serve well to end alot of deadlocks in congress and elsewhere when the two major parties start playing their "I'm gonna make it tough on you" see-saw where they block any actions at all on things just to prove they can

So you would rather have people throw out the old two parties and replace them with another two parties, not even knowing what the new parties stand for? That's not the best idea, considering that party lines will still be there and the 2 party system would still be intact. You do have a point though, the parties are becoming too focused on power hunger and control of legislation, and not enough on what needs to be done in the country. It's getting kind of ridiculous, and something really does need to be done about it. I feel that parties should be eliminated, therefore forcing people to do research on politicians and see who would best represent them and their interests.

People vote for small parties and they lose and Republicans win. If Ralph Nader hadn't split a crucial close vote, we might have a Democrat President and I think we, the U.S. would be a lot better of. So, vote for yourself and keep the Republicans in office. I just vote for the lesser of 2 evils. It is the only practical thing to do.

When you vote for a third party that's going for state or federal office you're pretty much just wasting your vote anyway. All your doing is trying to get it so neither Democrat or Republican gets your vote. One of them is going to win anyway, for god's sake we live in one of the only two-party countries in the world, so why not just vote for them! If it's a local thing, sure, go ahead, I don't care. They might win, I don't know what the political demographics of your area are. But when it comes to the big things that matter to state and country, just vote for the major party and don't complain! So, NO, I won't stop voting for the Democrats. (Angelides for CA Governor!!!)

I agree. That's why I haven't voted for a Democrat or Republican President, EVER...I even voted for Ross Perot. I thought he'd shake up things in Washington DC....Things have to change. The only problem is that the people who have to make the changes are the people in Washington DC and they care more about getting re-elected than they do about the county's future!

So who we going to vote for? Pot-head liberatarians? I'm generally ok with them, but the whole legalize pot thing is NOT going to fly.

besides there are too many sheeple in both D and R camps.

A good serious 3rd party candidate might stand a chance-- but little. Heck, Perot was the most recent who got some level of votes but not ONE electoral state/vote.
