ok i understand the possiblities of space, but at the same time there are more possiblities on our on planet, on land and in the sea. We know life is in the ocean, we think its in space. And on top of all that our oceans have resourses we can tap, and it can tell us about are world, and others world. PPl ask why did god put life on this planet, and no others, we will never know if we dont see whats on this planet. You think about how asturnauts train to go to space, inside the water, I think there may be more things to learn about space, in the ocean then in space itself. And of cousre UFOs, there are such things as USOs. Any way the true subject of this question is why do we try to jump, before we learn to walk first, we are but babies, and unless we learn about ourselves, and test the water so to speak, why would we want to leap forward, to thing outside our prespective?

but if we learn from the oceans we can then focus are efforts to the deepest reaches of sace, not only is water a some what wieghtless of an envirornment, we cant breath in it either, we could learn about tera forming, and experiment with bio-domes in the ocean, if we do any of these things in space, and something goes wrong it would be harder to fix, but while on this earth we have all our resources, and we know theres aliens here. Also the medical benefits, and resouces in the ocean would benefit use now, so when were ready to go beyond our solar system we can have some experience with different enviornments

Ocean

B/c we need to gain a greater understanding of where we live now (Earth), then prematurly pushing our limits in space. Space will come in time, but Earth cannot wait forever to be healed from our destruction.

We should learn more about the oceans and whats in them first. We need to understand our planet before trying to understand all other planets and stars etc. Also, a lot of life forms that we find way deep in the ocean, are very strange. Like bacteria that require no sunlight, that feeds off of hydrogen. Organisms like these could possibly survive on other planets like Titan (one of Jupiter's moons). So we should know all we can about the ocean and its creatures because it might come in handy when learning about space and quite possibly its creatures.

Why colonize area... How about this-as an coverage coverage for the human race in case we blow ourselves up? Or get annihilated through a meteor strike? Our grandchildren might want to, in the experience that that they had the favor, commence to terraform Mars. With an initial funding (admittedly, trillions of funds nicely worth) of power that would launch the carbon dioxide and water sequestered in the regolith... Mars will be made a lot extra liveable than it really is now. Granted, it would take 1000's of years to get a breathable environment, yet lets conceivably strengthen the overall temperature above the freezing factor of water and the rigidity of the air to at least a million/2 to three/4's of Earths. We nevertheless ought to positioned on oxygen mask.... yet THEN we would have an finished international to colonize, and the human race's probabilities of extinction would drop dramatically.

I didn't read your Entire question and comment, but My common sense tells me that we should be taking care of oceans. After all we DO live on the "this" planet. I understand the curiosity of Space, but what is Space going to do for us when we ruin Earth? We need to take care of what we have before it all disappears....

Space, because it is SO big. Space includes all the oceans on all the planets, discovered and yet to be discovered. Our one little planet with it's one little ocean is just too limited compared to all of that.

I think it should be both. We can learn from both of them. There's is still very little in my opinion that what we know about space and the ocean. If we learn from studying each of them we can use our knowledge to better advance our lives.

ocean....currently there was a new coral discovered....that shows that we still have much to learn about our environment that we have not yet found out...there are many locations on earth that still need to be examined....scientists should focus on our planet rather than others...we would learn more from studying the ocean and earth rather than studying other planets when earth still has so much to be discovered.

wouldn't it be great to instead of worries about a run down nasa program that will cost billions to update, instead look at the needs of the poor and how the ocean can help or just take some of that billions from nasa to help the americans {not other countries] in need

both are equally important, space has its own possibilities while oceans have there own. but the problem is with our mentality its like the old saying "Door ke dhol suhane" it means that the things far away are always more beautiful and attracting than those near.
