Rude answers are possibly from the non-signaling people?? Sounds like I hit a sensitive spot. :) I know it's a lot of work to do but try practicing using your signal...you'll get the hang of it & if not, don't be surprised when people are rude back and flash that bird that doesn't fly.

Because they are inconsiderate jerks. Because they are thinking only about themselves.
I often think that carmakers should disable the turning mechanism unless the directional signal is activated. But I doubt that will ever pass! Perhaps a compromise would be that you would be prevented from changing lanes on a highway until you signal. Like that will happen either. :o)
I commute to work on a highway most mornings and I see some of the worst behavior there. So that's where my focus is, I guess. But I certainly support your cause!

How come you want someone else to make your life easier? But to answer your question because of insurance. Drive in a country where they don't require insurance and few people have it. No stop light required, no seat belts, no horns etc. but if your car gets banged, you pay for it. Yeah, everybody gives signals to stop, turn, go ahead etc. Just don't see any crashes (few) when it's your money and not the insurance company's that takes the hit.

I'm sorry. I was drinking a coffee, eating a donut, talking on the phone, and yelling at the kids in the back seat while I was checking emails on the way to work. I couldn't reach the lever with the knee I was driving with. I'll use it twice at the next turn.

Around here, people don't use their signals, because if they do, the other idiots cut them off and you can't change lanes or turn. You can't even turn your head to look, they will cut you off. You have to be a secret turner to avoid them. Balance of power, I suppose. Cut them off before they can get in front of you.

People drive on automatic. They only look like they see you. You think they see you? And if they did, you think they know what they are seeing? Turn signal? Oh yeah, forgot....well, next time, ok?
